'I. GuiShan Festival
The music depicts the joyous atmosphere when the Sani people of Shilin in Yunnan Province, China, celebrate their festivals. Sani people are descendant of the Yi nationality. The commonly used music instrument by the Sani is the three-string lute. The three strings are tuned to the pitches of C-E-G; thus, the melody of Sani's music is developed and expanded around these three notes.
II. Along the RuiLi River Shore
The scenery along the shores of RuiLi River is picturesque. The Dai people living along the shores are earnest and assiduous. The music depicts, on the way home after a day of diligent work, the Dai people singing their beautiful folk songs and dancing a joyous dance.
III. Music Heard through the Mist of Dawn
The Hani people of Yunnan province, China, live on top of the mountain that is filled with cascading terraces. They are well known for their love of dance and beautiful folk songs. The music portrays dawn, surrounded by the morning mist, and an old man sitting under a tree playing the "Za Bie."
