To facilitate the rearrangement of voices, there is some rewriting of parts, including:
- mm. 57-60, by means of 2 additional bars compared to the original's mm. 57-58
- mm. 74-75, reduced by 2 bars compared to the original's mm. 77-80
- mm. 81-84, reduced by 6 bars compared to the original's 86-95
- The most noticeable change: mm. 147-152 and mm. 199-208 feature a new, more ornamental piano right-hand line when the piano is alone. The latter section omits the first 6 measures of the clarinet's held notes (original's mm. 207-212) before the cadenza.
- the section of mm. 85-121 totals 37 measures, compared to the original's 32 measures (mm. 96-127)
- the transition into the più mosso in mm. 298-299 (original's mm. 312-313) is slightly altered.
- the original's mm. 335-242 are cut from this arrangement. Following this, the Allegretto section has an identical number of measures compared to the original.
One unusual articulation difference occurs where the clarinet part is maintaining the original clarinet line: the eighth-note of m. 234 is marked staccato where the original (m. 248) had a slur into the following measure.None of these changes drastically alter the structure, themes, or moods of the work; this freely-adapted arrangement has 335 measures compared to the original's 349 measures, and the overall durations are comparable.
