"I composed Pursuits of Happiness with the personalities of the original performers in mind: Stanley and Naomi Drucker, John Bruce Yeh and Teresa Reilly, and David Tuttle and Rose Sperrazza. Each of the movements features one of the couples, and while all three of the movements portray personal characteristics exemplified by all of the couples, each of the three movements focuses on feelings I have when thinking of a specific couple. The first movement, "Romp," depicts the lightness of spirit I see in the Druckers; the second moveemnt, "Honesty," explores the intensity and passion of John and Teresa; and the third movement, "Stomp," honors Rose and Dave's straightforward approach to music, work, and life in general." -
