From the composer:
"Trittico for solo Bass clarinet is a piece in three movements (I. Toccata - II. Fantasia - III. Burlesca) composed in summer 2021 by the Italian clarinetist Raffaele Magosso (born 1982), and performed for the first time by the composer himself during a recital for solo clarinet on September 25th 2021 in Adria. The composer's aim was to provide new solo music during the pandemic in order to be easily performed both at home and in the few concerts allowed at that time, when usually just soloists or little ensembles could play in concert halls because of restrictions. Magosso has always been fascinated by the mysterious sound of bass clarinet and specialized on its technique while playing in several orchestras in North Italy and achieving prizes in international music competitions (Grosseto, Treviso, Padua, Slovenia and others); being interested in composition since youth and nowadays involved in writing arrangements and occasionally new pieces (mainly for liturgy), he finally decided to write a piece for his favorite instrument using a traditional language inspired mainly by Baroque music without falling to the temptation of making of it an "exercise of style," but even winking at the modern extended techniques: in the second movement multiphonics are required, not as a surprising effect but always intended in a tonal harmonic way." -
