"Sometimes a beautiful poem is best left alone in its self sufficiency without the addition of music: but it seemed to me that this deeply moving poem of Charles Baudelaire would be enhanced by a musical setting. Thus I have tried to suggest (by the muffled ticking of a clock, for instance) the inexorable passage of time, and the constant tyranny of the clock over all the affairs of men till they end in death.''Remember!
