The Young Clarinet Player: Beginner Duets & Trios

arranged by Karen North

Composer: Various

Publisher: Allegro Publishing

$15.00

Instrumentation:
Movement/Section Duration: N/A
  • This edition consists of clarinet duets and trios arranged by Karen North with consultation from Sally Lucas. Many of the arrangements can be played as either a duet (using the two upper parts) or as a trio.

The intermediate level volume is also available, here.

A section of warm ups is also included, allowing the teacher to focus on one technical aspect of ensemble work, such as intonation or dynamics, in each exercise - particularly useful for larger groups.

The arranger notes: "Recognising that some players have difficulty playing certain notes, alternative easier notes in brackets ( ) have been offered where possible...the Rounds in the last section of the book may be performed in a variety of ways. They could first be played in unison and then in canon, starting one after another, either in two, three or four parts. Each part would play the music a set number of times, with the first part entering alone and the last part finishing alone. Or parts may be repeated until the leader signals to finish at the end of the phrase, therefore ending with all parts in harmony."

Audio recordings of the duets and trios are available here.
