Andrew Simon provided corrections from Joseph Horovitz, given to him by the composer and dated 2008-9:
Tempo Corrections:
Movement I:
- bar 1 tempo: crotchet (quarter-note) = 100
- 2 bars before rehearsal D (Più moderato) tempo: crotchet (quarter-note) = 84 (+)
- 4 bars after rehearsal I (Più moderato) tempo: crotchet (quarter-note) = 84 (+)
Movement II:
- bar 1 tempo: crotchet (quarter-note) = 56
Movement III:
- bar 1 tempo: minim (half-note) = 84 (+)
- 2 bars after rehearsal D (Poco più moto) tempo: minim (half-note) = 90 (or 92)
- after rehearsal F: stay in tempo until 6 bars after F; then, minim (half-note) = 84
- rehearsal G tempo: minim (half-note) = 88
- 7 bars after rehearsal H tempo: minim (half-note) = 92
- after rehearsal I: stay in tempo until fourth bar after I. Then, minim (half-note) = 88
- After rehearsal L: ignore "Tempo primo"
- Last 6 bars tempo: minim (half-note) = 100. NO FASTER!
Piano Part Corrections:
Movement I:
- bars 6, 22, and 10 bars after rehearsal J: left hand, last note = G-natural (not G-flat)
Movement III:
- 3 bars before rehearsal G: right hand, last chord, top note = A-flat (not A-natural)
Pianist Warren Lee, who worked with Simon, also received corrections from the composer at a later date (August 2014) which add more piano corrections and exhibit a few point of diversion compared to Simon's notes, listed below:
Tempo Corrections:
Movement III:
- at rehearsal F: delete ALL tempo indications until 3 bars before rehearsal M. At 3 bars before rehearsal M, change “animando sempre” to “Animando, poco a poco”
- at rehearsal N, change “ancor più vivo” to half-note = 100 (appunto!); delete all later tempo indications
Piano Part Corrections:
Movement I:
- 2 bars after rehearsal D, clarinet stave: first note = B-flat (not B-natural)
- 1 bar after rehearsal J: right hand, tenth note = E-natural (not E-flat)
- 9 bars after rehearsal J: right hand, eleventh note = D-natural (not D-flat)
Movement II:
- 3 bars after rehearsal B (first bar of page 12): left hand should continue tied F from previous page
