"This dynamic work for clarinet and piano is programmatic in nature, exploring the psychological cycle of an individual who regularly attends smash rooms. A smash room is a safe place for someone to go and violently break things, fully expend one's rage in a controlled environment. The piece begins in such a place. Next, a sense of shock ensues along with physical exhaustion. Upon recovery, merciful rest. The work ends how it began, with a return of the smash room theme, signifying the start of a new cycle."
