From the composer:
"This work was a commission for the final recital of the bass clarinet class at the Paris National Superior Conservatoire of Music and Dance - CNSMDP. I taught in that institution for 34 years, was often asked to write pieces for final recitals. I always focused on musicality, on the performer's imagination and his or her capacity to bring in a personal interpretation. The choice of a cello in dialogue with the clarinet was obvious to me from the first creative gesture of the piece, in order to attain an osmosis in sound between the two instruments. I worked on mixing the sounds in different tessituras, in which winding patterns follow one another in alternating events that include contrasting tempi and playing techniques, with Bartók pizzicato for the cello and slaps for the clarinet, the Sul Ponticello blending with the breath ofthe clarinet. The title of the piece suggests time, the sensation that something has been attained, that what must be said has been said." -
