"This is an abridged, compact version of George Gershwin's "An American in Paris" which lasts about 11 minutes.

We have found that this version for string quartet, double bass, clarinet, bassoon and horn preserves much of the orchestra character of the original work. At the same time it can provide an entertaining close to an evening of chamber music by more classical composers.The circled rehearsal numbers, as well as the measure numbers, correspond to those of the original orchestral score. Because of the cuts there are sometimes gaps in the numbering, but this facilitates reference to the original score. Some dynamics have been changed to help balance the piece as a chamber music work."
