From the composer:
"Dance of Fury, for the Seven Trumpets (from O. Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time) was my inspiration for this piece. I am particularly interested in such compositional 'materials" as irregular metrical groupings, modal writing, or the use of unisons in orchestration etc., characteristic of Messiaen's techniques.Dances du Loo was written in the Summer of 2018, during a heat wave. The Loo is a hot (45° to 50°C), dry wind that blows over northern India. The first section is an evocation of breath, air, breezes, sand swirls or the strong, hoarse and powerfully aggressive sound of the wind.
The middle section, mainly modal and in canonic writing, offers a suspended moment of peaceful, ethereal serenity and gentle torpor.
Then, progressively, the burning sensation returns, with the fierce heat and the intense energy of the dance letting us spin and swirl until exhaustion." -
