"This volume features the first 25 etudes from the original oboe collection, listed in the same order of succession. Clarinet 1 is true to the original and very soloistic throughout while Clarinet 2 is allotted a more supporting role. I tried as best I could to keep 'Wilhelm's spirit' and follow the romantic vein that runs throughout the original compositions.

I should add that, by mistake (maybe deliberate?), I forgot to transpose Etude #6. Having played it in the original key for years, I am afraid I did not realize the mistake at first. When I finally did, I transposed the piece, of course. Both versions are interesting so I decided, with the publisher's approval, to keep them both. Would it not be a good idea for our students to try their hands at transposing some etudes, and practice them in two different keys?" -
