Klezmer

Klezmer music is impossible to describe neatly, since it has been in existence for at least two thousand years.  At its core, it is a musical tradition of the Jewish people, and began largely as instrumental dance and celebratory pieces.  The Jews' travels from country to country, combined with the influence of time, has brought several cross-cultural influences to klezmer music.  Any musician interested in klezmer is encouraged to research its historical, cultural, and sacred importance to the Jewish community - thankfully, there are many resources available!
